- Lessons are only $15 for 3 one hour sessions, or $6 for 1 hour

Kanata Seniors Council members can learn computer (PC), e-mail and internet access skills from experienced volunteers, in a relaxed environment, and explore the world via the internet with your finger tips. Communicate with friends, family & learn how to use multi-media. Use KSC PC’s, or your Laptop, together with KSC printers and high speed network; and Microsoft Windows 7, Vista or Windows XP together with Microsoft Office 2003/2007/2010, Internet Explorer and many other programs.
- E-mail: Communicate easily with old and new friends and family around the world. Exchange photos, videos, letters, information you have found at home or on the internet, games and music. Manage attachments. Join discussion groups.
- World Wide Web (WWW): Using Internet Explorer and search engines like Google to explore any subject: news, travel, genealogy, health, recreation, finance, hobbies, sports, arts, books etc. Find a book, part-time job, movie times and tickets or reserve a library book or DVD. Learn how to safely download, view, print or save information you have found.
- Social Networking: Instant text communication with your friends, free world wide phone/video calls using Skype, social networking like Facebook, blogs, find lost friends via old school/work social networks, create your own web site etc.
- Word Processing: Use Microsoft Office to write Letters, articles, recipes, flyers, newsletters or even your memoirs or a book. Combine pictures & text in documents that can be printed, saved, and emailed. Create/Print mailing lists.
- Spreadsheets: Use Microsoft Excel to manage finances, expenses, bank balances or to create databases and graphical charts.
- Privacy and Security: Keep your personal information safe on the internet, how to protect from spam, viruses, malware, trojans, junk e-mail and practical advice on how to deal with unexpected information, e-mails and hoaxes. What computer settings to have and password selection.
- Free Programs: Finding, downloading & using from safe sites, plus pitfalls to watch out for.
- Digital Cameras & Video: How to transfer pictures/videos to your computer, storing and organizing on your PC, then view or print. How to edit pictures and videos, how to email pictures/videos to friends, a print lab or to post on a web site like Picasa so your friends and family can easily access them to view and print.
- Mobile Computing: Connect to wireless hotspots and wired Ethernet connections.
- Printing & Scanning: Printer setup, options and how to print letters, photos, invitations, greeting cards, business cards. Tips on selecting a printer. How to scan pictures and articles into your computer.
- Home Network: setup, Burning CD’s and DVD’s, using a Memory stick and making backups of your files.
- Computer Maintenance: Tune-ups, recover files accidentally erased, cleaning, virus scanning etc. Manage your files, directories and libraries including organize, move, copy, and delete.

We can tailor a one on one, hands on computer tutoring program in the KSC computer room, to meet your needs and desires using either our KSC training computers (Windows 7, Vista, or WinXP equipped) or using your own laptop. |
